The day had to come of course, when the huge interconnectedness of the web comes back to a place that is some way away in the physical world, but right inside me as far as my emotions are concerned…
That’s right, my children have discovered this site!
Luckily, unlike many who write more personal journals on the web – and then go through all sorts of inner twisting when people they know in real life start reading – I have always kept this blog focused on things which appeal to me intellectually – sometimes work related; sometimes not – but always both “work safe” and “family safe”.
Nevertheless it’s a strange feeling!
On balance I’m pleased. These writings and conversations are part of me, and it feels good to know that maybe it will open up new conversations with my children about the world they are growing up in.
Mind you at the moment my daughter thinks it’s “uncool” – which I hope is just a reaction to my photo
Perhaps the Christmas project will be showing her how to set up her own site!

It goes without saying that its uncool.
Unless you are a rockstar or an actor who is cool then its cool, but not if the rockstar or actor is uncool, that doesn’t make it cool but twice as uncool.

Thanks for explaining it!

So far only one of my lads knows about my blog (I told him – I figure as he’s hoping to be a writer it may have value for him in some way) but it cuts both ways – as he’s the only visitor from a .ac.uk domain, I can tell how late he stays up at uni! (2.00am visits being not uncommon. Not that I’m checking up on him…)

Hey, that’s mean. ^_^ It’s interesting that your parent can keep a blog. I find it cool.

Hmmmm, kids eh. That’ll keep you honest.
I saw too that an old flame has been reading my blog for a couple of months now, so I surreptitiously read hers too. Prurient?
Maybe we’re both hoping for(or fearing) a mention.
Ooops!

My girlfriend reads my blog… and I toss in some ‘personal jokes’ here and there, be it a certain phrase or what have you.
My mother found my blog a while back.
My father knows about it and doesn’t care too much.
My nieces know about it, but are not too interested in what I write about…
Like you, I let my intellectual muses run wild on my blog. Nothing to fear, and I actually get *phone calls* on my weblog down here in Trinidad…

Join the club! My daughter reads mine (I confessed!) and did start one of her own but I don’t tend to talk about anything too personal. Funnily enough I have more angst about work colleagues reading it
